Ask any home renovation expert or DIY home improvement hobbyist about recycled timber and you’re bound to receive a flurry of praise towards the material. Recycled timber has steadily enjoyed a rise in popularity for new or renovated homes as being a cost effective solution for flooring, outdoor decking, posts or beams and even windows and doors. So what’s so good about recycled timber?

Basically put, the look, the feel and the price are all positives for recycled timber. Most people that buy recycled timber buy it distinctly for the overall appearance and “homey” touch it can add to a property.

Most recycled timbers in Australia are nearly all Australian hardwoods with a few exceptions. The common species held are Blackbutt, Broadleaf Ironbark, Greybox, Grey Ironbark, Ironbark, Red Ironbark, Red Bloodwood, Spotted gum, Tallowwood.

Other less common species that are rarer but sometimes stocked are Brushbox, Brown Stringybark, Coastal Greybox, Greygum, Red Mahogany, Silvertop Ash, Sydney Bluegum, White Mahogany, White Stringybark, Whitebox, Yellowbox and Yellow Stringybark.

If you’re recently renovating or planning to renovate soon, recycled timber should definitely be on your “to research” list. Whether you’re after new flooring within your house or home, or perhaps a new entertaining area or decking, recycled timber is now the most popular choice for these projects.

Most industry leaders in recycled timber deal specifically with only the manufacture and production of recycled timber hardwoods.

Most companies have their own premises and their own machinery and equipment to produce a range of high quality recycled timber products. Many of them offer a variety of products from beams and posts up to 10 metres in length one piece, DAR(Dressed All Round) timbers up to 300mm x 150mm, flooring and decking, contract milling and custom windows and doors from recycled timber as well as new timber windows and doors.

They also have numerous bridge timbers in a variety of sizes in stock, which can provide a unique and rustic look for decks, bar areas or pergolas warranting the size of the timber.
